It was great to see Kincentricity finally in digital print today. We have been operating under the radar since launching the company in November 2009. We have been hard at work securing carbon projects in Latin America that meet our filter of reducing emissions and improving the quality of life. We have also been forming relationships with other important actors in the social carbon world as well as mainstream partners such as offset brokers. The response to our social carbon model that generates charismatic carbon offsets has been amazing. Our last trip to Colombia a few weeks ago was spectacular. We met with members of the brick-making community of Nemocon, where we are developing our first project and also local NGOs, technology providers and even the United Nations Development Program. Today, an article written by Boyd Cohen, our CEO and co-founder, was published in Triple Pundit. "Somewhere along the way it feels like the carbon markets have lost their soul.As is the case in the evolution of most industries, sooner or later, the focus moves strictly to profit maximization. In the case of carbon markets, early movers have grown to a large size and are increasingly being bought by even larger multinationals (e.g. see JP Morgan’s recent acquisition of Ecosecurities for roughly $200 million). This leads towards a shift to scale efficiencies and sourcing bigger projects that have the potential to reduce the greatest amount of offsets for the least cost, thus commoditizing carbon offsets..."
